Owls sweater is nearly complete…
.

Feb Sweater done?

So, I decided against the sleeves after all.  I started knitting them in the round (tackled magic loop).  Hate to admit I actually didn’t mind magic loop this time.  But…I ended up ripping out the sleeves and knitting this owls like I did the owlet.  I like it.  I don’t LOVE it, but I do like it.  I think I will wear it much more this way.  It will get me through a bunch of seasons this way.

.
I still need to sew in the ends and add the buttons…hummmm shall I do just one owl or many owls?  I am thinking bright colored buttons would be perfect.
.
I also need to crochet around the armhole.  That will finish it off.  Then of course blocking…
.
I ended up putting 5 stitches on scrap yarn on each side of the sweater and casting on 35 stitches over those stitches.  I debated how many stitches to do under the arm and settled on 5.  I didn’t want the armhole too big.  No one wants to see the prettiest part of our backs squeezing through the back of the armhole:)
.
So the start of my round ended up exactly where the start of the round would have been if I had put the sleeves on.  I started the round at the start of the first 35 stitches cast on.  The short rows worked perfectly for me.  The owls are so fast and cute.  Love knitting them.

What I learned…
.
If I were to do it again I would knit the sweater in the same yarn (turns out to be lovely and really soft) but I would knit a larger size in a smaller needle.  I don’t like that the stitches are stretching.  Oh, hey…I learned to cable without a needle too…piece o cake!

I guess I have time to knit another?  Maybe…just maybe…
