It is a good thing this design is so darn cute or I might just have to say forget it.   The numbers on this thing are really far off.  Must not have done much test knitting for this pattern.  Makes me think about how hard it is to find a very well written pattern.  Wonder why?  It’s kind of a bummer to spend money on a pattern that isn’t right.  Oh well…onward and upward.
.

I have decided (with help from some other March knitters) that I am going to rip out the sleeve and start the decreases immediately.   Look how big it is.  Really?
.

Gigantic Sleeve

.
I am ripping now…do you hear it?  The sound of me weeping?  Actually, had  I started this sweater with a good attitude maybe I would be done by now.  I spent the first 10 days complaining.  Live and learn.
.
One of my lovely customers kindly pointed out that it is 12 in 12…so technically I have until Dec 31st to finish this right?  Right?

Yep, that double pointed needle is supposed to be there...it is for the button band.

I was not a math major.
.
I never took statistics.
.
I am not particularly interested in numbers (just ask my accountant)
.
But, knitting the body of this sweater was so mind numbingly boring that I had to do something with my time.
.
So, I decided to time myself knitting.  Yeah, I know it is pretty lame, but I had to do something with my mind.
.
I got out my iphone and started timing myself.  My husband has been reassured that I am still crazy.  I timed myself for a good hour of knitting…I think that is a good sample right?  I think it’s called a sample anyway.
.
The body of the sweater is 197 stitches per row give or take a few (who’s really counting at this point  anyway).  It took me, on average, 4 minutes 25 seconds to knit a row and 5 minutes 30 seconds to purl the next row.  Yep, that’s about 10 minutes for 2 rows…holy crappoly.
.
Here comes the math part.
.
The sweater from underarm to the held off stitches is 13″.
.
I am getting 8 rows for every inch.
.
13″ x 8 rows = 104 total rows
.
Divide the total rows by 2 (cause we have a knit row and a purl row) and you get 52
.
Multiply 52 x 10 and you get 520 = total number of minutes to knit 13″
.
Divide 520 x 60  and you get 8.6666 = total number of hours to knit 13″
.
8 1/2 hours to knit from underarm to the held off stitches.
.
So…now that I have it written out it doesn’t seem so bad.  Funny.

Generous armholes

.
Carly wanted to be sure I mentioned the very generous armholes in my sweater.  Perfect for my ever growing Beach Body Biceps:)

March Madness is right.
.

Hummm..Pickadilly Shrug?

.

I’m getting there, I’m getting there.  I have the sleeves on scrap yarn finally.  Am knitting the body.  Let’s see, today is the 14th and I need to be done by the 31st.  Right?

.

Maybe this could be the Pickadilly Shrug?
.
Who’s bright idea was this 12 in 12 thing anyway?
.
Hope yours is going better!

7 days in and I am doing everything I can to avoid knitting March’s sweater.
.
Not sure why…
.
I really, really like the sweater.  Just am not excited to knit it.
.
Instead of knitting…I am…

Eating girl scout cookies

reading the new vogue..cause if you know me you know I am a slave to fashion

picking up little bits of legos and bakugans, cause that's what moms of 6 year old boys do

waking up at the crack o dawn to go to beach body bootcamp this morning...WHY...cause who would want to stay in a nice warm bed past 5am anyway?

.

I am 6 inches into the sweater.  At this rate, it’ll take me 8 weeks to finish…Just about the time when my beach body will be complete:)  And yeah, I know that girl scout cookies and a beach body aren’t exactly a perfect pair.
.

1 week down...6" down

.
I hope you are finding more motivation than I am!
