Shaggy Baggy

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

We just got a new item in from Shaggy Baggy.  If you haven’t seen Sharon’s work in person yet, you should.  These are very well constructed bags!  I carry one of her totes around everyday.  A great looking and durable workhorse bag!

The newest addition to her collection are these great Shaggy Buckets.  Perfect for a knitting project!

Call to Artists

Call to Artists!
We are Darn Knit Anyway; a yarn and fabric shop coming in October to Main Street in Stillwater, Minnesota.  Our Goal is to provide an environment that makes artists and novices alike feel welcome, educated, equal and eager to come back!
In addition to being a source for unique textiles and natural, hand-dyed and locally spun yarns, we will have a boutique filled with items handmade by local artists.
Who we are looking for
Because we are going to be a boutique that only sells items made by local artists, you must currently reside in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Oh, and you need to be at least 18.
What we are looking for
Because we are a yarn and fabric shop, we are looking for items that relate to those materials.  So, if you make something with yarn or fabric or make something to do with creating things with yarn and fabric, we want to see it!  So…knit and crochet items, baby clothes and blankets, burp cloths and bags, fiber supplies like specialty needles and notions.  You get the picture, right?
How we want it
Because we have limited time before our October opening, we need to have all correspondence in email form.  There is no application form.  Please send us an email with the following information to artist@darnknitanyway.com.
1.  We need to know who you are, how to contact you and where you call home.
2.  We need to know what item or items you are submitting, what materials you are using and what your process is.
3.  We need to see what you’ve got up your sleeve.  So, please submit up to 5 digital images per item.

When we want it
Because we are opening in early October, we are moving fast!  Submissions are due Monday, September 7th.  If you are selected for review, you will be notified via phone to set up an artist meeting (to review your art and our contract) by Friday, September 11th.  All artist meetings will be Tuesday, September 15th through Saturday, September 19th.  If selected for consignment, items need to arrive at the shop ready to sell by Tuesday, September 29th.
What we really want you to know
Our mission, for the boutique at Darn Knit Anyway, is to be a place that showcases local artists.  We want you to tag your items with any contact information you see fit.  We want people to be able to find you directly and buy more from you!  We’ll be profiling our artists on our website with links to your website.  So, feel free to send us a great bio and website information, your etsy site and any other information you think makes you and your product really cool.  We are excited to see what unique items you have to show us!

Calling All Artists!

Monday, August 24th, 2009
Darn Knit Anyway, in addition to being a very fun yarn and fabric shop will also have a boutique featuring apparel and accessory items.   If you, or someone  you know, is making some really cool things have them send us an email and we will get the information out to them.  We only have 2 criteria…the items need to be local, so made in Minnesota or Wisconsin and the items need to be made of yarn or fabric or have something to do with creating things with yarn and fabric!   So…knit and crocheted items, hand sewn kids clothes and blankets, burp cloths and bags.  Confused?  Check out the items below…

We will feature these amazing buttons made by St. Paul girl, Julie Kinney.  You can find Julie’s stuff at her Etsy Site, Pushing My Buttons.

And these super sweet photo books from Stillwater native, Katy Erenz.  You can find Katy’s creations at her Etsy Site, FeltedFanatic.

We don’t have a huge space for our boutique yet, but we will try to feature a wide variety of artists and change it up regularly.  Our focus is to give them as much exposure as we can.  We hope our shop becomes a place that local artists and novices alike will enjoy exploring.

So send this blog link to any and all local artists you love!  We look forward to hearing from them!
