Our February Makers' League project is a nod to our dear Nanny Jean, who taught Carly and me how to knit.
One of Nanny's hats was this cute bucket hat.
This is me and my family this year getting our Christmas tree. I was of course wearing my fav Nanny Jean Hat.
Nanny made a few of these hats over the years and we decided it was time to put our own spin on it.
Our "bucket" hat has a provisional cast on and a folded brim with a subtle flare. We just LOVE it!
This hat is knit out of West Yorkshire Spinners Croft. A beautiful 100% Shetland Island Wool.
The kit includes a full skein and 3 mini skeins, enough to do the colorwork with enough left over for a colorful pom pom if you want!
We'll, of course, include our pattern and the Fair Isle patch too!
You'll need US5 and 7 16" circular needles. You'll need to work a provisional cast on for the brim.
We love to use this technique from Knit Purl Hunter for provisional cast on. For this technique you'll also need a crochet hook, waste yarn and a spare US5 16" circular needle.
Remember, there is no "joining" fee or membership cost. You simply have to choose a Makers' League kit you love and buy it!'
