It is Bracken by one of our favorite design teams, Alexa and Emily of Tin Can Knits. They are known for their wearable designs, clear instruction, and extensive size range. You can knit a Bracken for everyone in the family from newborn to 6xl.

Our fourth quarter KAL will kick off on Zoom Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Bracken is a classic cable knit vest in a worsted weight yarn. It is knit flat from the bottom up. The cables and texture make it look tricky, but all the cables use the same 4 stitch cable pattern and all the cables turn on the same row. It's an engagning knit for a seasoned knitter or an adventurous novice.
If you are trying to decide whether this project is your skill level, you should be comfortable:
- knitting and purling
- knitting a cable stitch

This is a knit along, not a traditional "class". You won't get specific instruction from us as you are knitting. We all knit this sweater together, at our own pace, and discover the 'quirks' of the pattern together.

If you are wanting some one-on-one help, we recommend attending the Study Hall In-Person classes on the opposite Wednesdays as the Zooms. If you are unable to attend Study Hall, we ask that you call and make an appointment so we can assure that one of our staff is available to assist you.

An important note about sizing: This vest is designed to be close-fitting and slightly cropped. The model in the photograph is wearing a Medium with 2.5" of negative ease. The sample I knit at the shop is XXL which fits me with a couple inches of positive ease. Choose whatever fit or length you want for your finished garment. You can add length and ease to make the vest that will fit you best.

Zoom sessions begin on October 14 at 10-11am and 6-7 pm, with Study Hall kicking off the following week in the Makers' Lounge from 10-11am. Registering for this class will get you access to the 10:00am Zoom and the 6:00pm Zoom.
