Weaving in Ends Zoom



Ever struggle on knowing the best way to weave in ends in your projects? Learn how to weave in your ends with Amy when knitting in stockinette, garter and lace fabric.

Class:
Weaving in Ends to a Dishcloth (a one and done class)
Skills Required: Long tail cast on, knitting, purling, yarn overs, knit 2 togethers, icord or bind off option (see free pattern for Amy’s Dishcloth)
Skills You'll Learn: You will learn tips and tricks with how to weave in ends to your dishcloth in various areas-garter, stockinette, lace, and at the beginning and end of your dishcloth. There is HOMEWORK with knitting the dishcloth as described in the free pattern. By the end of the class the dishcloth will be ready to use with all the ends woven in. You will also be provided online resource links and helpful tips for weaving in ends on your next project.

Supplies Needed:  

Homework: Make one dishcloth from pattern below. When cutting your ends and starting new yarn, please leave ends on wrong side of the fabric.

Amy’s dishcloth:

Key:

YO= yarn over
k2tog=knit two together
k2tog TBL=knit two together through the back loop

 

Using a US 7 knitting needles, Cast on 35 stitches using long tail cast on.
Knit back and forth for a total of 5 rows (3 purl ridges)

Lace section:

Row 1: Knit 2, [YO, k2tog] until the final 3 stitches, knit 3

Continue for a total of 12 rows

Stockinette stitch section:

Row 1: Knit 2, YO, k2tog, Knit 15 and cut end leaving at least a 5 inch tail. Join yarn leaving at least a 5 inch tail and knit to end of row.
Row 2: Knit 2, YO, k2tog, purl to last 3 stitches, knit last 3 stitches.
Row 3: Knit 2, YO, k2tog, knit to end of row.

Continue Row 2 and 3 until there are a total of 12 rows of stockinette, ending with a Row 2.

 

Garter section:

Row 1: Knit 2, YO, k2tog, knit 5 and cut end leaving at least a 5 inch tail. Join yarn leaving at least a 5 inch tail and knit to end of row.
Row 2: Knit 2, YO, k2tog, knit to end of row (continue for 10 more rows, or a total of 12 rows for this section. Six garter bump rows will show)

 

Finishing border:

Row 1: Knit 25 stiches, cut yarn and leave at least a 5 inch tail. Join yarn leaving at least a 5 inch tail and knit to end of row.
Row 2: Knit all stitches.

Repeat Row 2 , 4 more times ending on a WS row.

 

Bind off in icord (if icord is too much, do a regular bind off):

Cable cast on 3 stitches. *Knit 2, k2tog TBL, place 3 stitches back on left needle and continue from * until the last 3 stitches. Cut yarn leaving at least 5 inch tail. Place the thread on a needle and run through the 3 working stitches from right to left. (Do not weave in ends, this is for class)
