Lanesplitter Skirt Class

This skirt pattern is made for Aran weight yarn, but can be adapted to many different weights with different needle sizes and more yardage if using smaller weight yarns, like DK weight. Get the fabric you want with the needle size you want, then knit the skirt to pattern dimensions. This class will not be doing a gauge swatch, so you may want to do a flat gauge swatch on your own before class. 

The Noro Kureyon yarn is heavy enough to make a solid, comfortable skirt that’s going to retain its shape. Diagonal stripes add interest to the shape and being knit on the bias the skirt won’t curl at the edge. Fancy a skirt in one color, choose an Aran weight yarn

Class: Lanesplitter Skirt Class 
Skills required: Knitting and purling, increasing and decreasing.
You will learn: How to knit a skirt flat, seam, and place in an elastic waistband. Amy will also show how to use barber cord to place stitches on hold for easier pickup for the waistband.

• Lanesplitter Skirt pattern
• Aran weight or more yardage for worsted weight, DK or sport. Also note more yardage is needed if you want a longer skirt.
  • Suggested yarn for variegated look: Noro Kureyon , DK yarn Helix , Cascade 220 Wave, Creative Melange Aran Wonderball, Sidar Jewelspun yarn
  • Suggested yarn for solid skirt: La Bien Aimee Confetti, Berroco Remix, Cascade Eco

• US 8 and 10 for gauge in pattern using Aran weight yarn, but may vary depending on yarn weight used
• Barber Cords (used for easier way to pick up stitches around waist)
• 1 Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• Elastic for waist (1.5-2inches) band
• Safety pin

Note: Choose size with circumference that is 0-6 inches less than hip measurement of wearer, depending on desired fit. The example one in the pattern is done to 2 inches less than model’s hip measurement. Waistband is sized to fit, using elastic. Size of skirt can easily be adjusted; if you are increasing skirt circumference or length, purchase more yarn.
