Building in Color Class 2026

This price is for ALL 12 in person sessions. We also have online (Zoom) version available here.

Register once and come to all classes listed below. Classes are from 10:30 - noon on the 1st Wednesday and/or 6:00pm -7:30pm on the First Thursday evening of the month

Knit a colorwork blanket, 1 panel at a time. Great class for an emerging intermediate knitter who wants to learn or improve their colorwork skills! See finished blankets on Ravelry by clicking here.

Learn a bunch of fun new techniques with some fun folks! Class meets once a month and is only $60 for the WHOLE YEAR! That's just $5 per class if you can believe it:) You can be a new colorwork knitter for this class or you can be experienced in colorwork and just want someone to hold your feet to the fire:)

Building in Color is the second pattern book in the series from Knit Purl Hunter.

Learn to expertly manage multiple colors while creating a gorgeous sampler afghan. If you loved Building Blocks then this follow-up book is for you! Many of the designs are timeless favorites, some are original creations, and ALL of them are deliciously fun!

10 colorwork panels combine to make this blanket.




If you want to use a different yarn or other colors that's great! You may need to special order. We order on the 1st and 15th of the month, and it takes about 10 days to get yarn in stock! So if you can order by December 10th, we should have plenty of time to get your yarn in for the first class.

Please note, that the pattern book recommends a specific yarn, which we feel is too thin for this project. The yarn we are recommending works better for our students.

Supplies Needed:

• Building in Color the book can purchased on the DKA website HERE.  If you prefer a digital book it can be purchased at DKA.  You will need either book or e-book for class.  
• We recommend Hikoo Simpliworsted or Berroco Vintage Chunky. You will need 4 skeins for each of your 3 colors. You will receive a 10% discount for materials. using coupon code 'buildingblocks26'. 
  • Yes, you can also purchase skeins as you go throughout the year.
  • You'll use a US9 or 10 24" circular needle for this project.
