Advanced Colorwork

Level up your colorwork skills in just one session! Join Lori to explore advanced techniques that will make your colorwork smoother, neater, and more impressive. You’ll put your new skills to use right away by creating a customizable knitted name badge—perfect for showing off your handiwork (and your name) at classes and events at Darn Knit Anyway. It’s a fun, practical project that’s also a miniature showcase of your colorwork mastery.


Class: Advanced Colorwork
Skills required: Experience with basic colorwork techniques, including changing colors, catching floats, and managing tension.
You will learn: How to knit with three colors in a single row (plus the duplicate stitch technique if you prefer not to carry three colors at once); improve your proficiency in catching floats using the two-handed colorwork method; design a customized colorwork chart for the name portion of your badge; blocking techniques.
Location: DKA Makers' Lounge

Supplies needed: 

• DK weight yarn in two contrasting colors (approximately 120 yards per color); small amount of third color in yarn of same weight (approximately 20 yards)
• US 5 or 6 needles - 16" (piece is worked in the round)
• Darning needle
