Ranunculus Sweater

Ready to knit your first lacy sweater? The Ranunculus is a great sweater to start with! The beautiful lace pattern was designed to resemble necklace layers, it can be knit in a wide variety of weights from lace to worsted and the lace shines through in every weight. Join Julianna to work through this gorgeous lacy sweater together!

Class: Ranunculus
Skills Required: comfortable knitting in the round, including small circumference knitting using either DPN or Magic Loop, comfortable doing the rib stitch; increasing and decreasing, and picking up stitches.
You will learn: The cable and lace stitches that make up this delicate yoke, crochet chain cast on, short row shaping, sleeve shaping, etc.

Supplies Needed:

•   Ranunculus pattern by Midori Hirose (available for purchase on Ravelry)
•   Yarn – lace to worsted weight yarn, depending on desired look! Lacy/fingering weight yarn will result in a transparent and airy garment, whereas thicker yarn results in a thicker and more structured garment.

Note: The first session of this class will look at choosing yarn for this sweater. Julianna will have a couple of swatches of different weights for folks to look at and consider prior to choosing yarn.

Yarn suggestions to consider –

•   Lace: LBA Felix, Prairie, etc.
•   Fingering: Darnie, La Bien Aimee Kumo, Woolstok Light, LBA Merino Singles, LBA Super Sock, etc.
•   Sport: Ridge Sport, Patagonia Organic Merino, Sonnet, etc.
•   DK: Sustainawool, Remix Light, Ultra Pima, Cotton Silk Tweed, etc.
•   Worsted: Falkland Worsted, Woolstok, Cascade 220, etc.
•   Needles: US 10 (32” circular (plus DPNs if that’s your preferred method for small circumference) and US 8 (16” and 32”)

Students are given a 10% discount for supplies needed for class and any purchases at the shop during class days, excluding sale items, gift cards, classes, and events.
