Ilha Tee

Inspired by the art of basket weaving, this pattern showcases a beautifully textured yoke and elegant braided sides. Knit from the top down in the round, it begins with a delicate yoke, followed by raglan increases to shape the upper body. The design is finished with ribbed edges accented by subtle broken lines of twisted stitches.

Homework is required: Bring blocked swatch (knit in the round) to the first class. Cast on 30 stitches and work 4" in stockinette stitch on the largest needle. Block swatch and leave to dry. Do not pin or manipulate fabric. Unsure about gauge and the swatching process? Take Lori's one-session Simplifying Gauge class!

Class: Ilha Tee
Skills required: Intermediate level sweater. Comfortable knitting in the round, including small circumference knitting using either DPNs or Magic Loop; increasing and decreasing (including M1R and M1L); picking up stitches; some experience knitting simple cables and lace from a chart is helpful.
You will learn: Cabling (with or without a cable needle); reading a charted pattern design; simple lace pattern, sleeve and body shaping

Supplies Needed:

Ilha pattern (available for purchase on Ravelry or through DKA)
Fingering/sport weight yarn (yardage approx: 880 (955, 1035, 1105, 1180)(1250, 1335, 1395, 1480) m; 965 (1045, 1135, 1210, 1290)(1370, 1460, 1525, 1615) yards
US 4 circular (16" and 32" for Magic Loop) or DPN
US 6 circular (24" or 32" for body and Magic Loop)

NOTE: This class is offered as a spring sweater knitted with short sleeves; the original pattern is for long sleeves. Be sure to adjust yarn quantity based on desired length of sleeve.

Students are given a 10% discount for supplies needed for class and any purchases at the shop during class days, excluding sale items, gift cards, classes, and events.
