Ilha Tee
Ilha is named after the art of basket weaving from the Portuguese village Ilha. The sweater showcases a beautifully textured yoke reminiscent of braiding and weaving. The yoke is shaped from the top down in the round, followed by raglan increases to shape the upper body. The sweater is accented with ribbed edges featuring subtle broken lines of twisted stitches and pretty braided side seams as a finishing touch.
Homework is required: Bring blocked swatch (knit in the round) to the first class. Cast on 30 stitches and work 4" in stockinette stitch on the largest needle. Block swatch and leave to dry. Class: Ilha Tee
Skills required: Intermediate level sweater. Previous experience knitting a top-down sweater; swatching and reading gauge; choosing size and ease; working in the round (including smaller circumference knitting on DPN or Magic Loop); increasing and decreasing (including M1 and KFB); picking up stitches; some experience knitting simple cables and lace from a chart is helpful.
You will learn: Cabling (with or without a cable needle); reading a charted pattern design; simple lace pattern, sleeve and body shaping; German short rows

Supplies Needed:
- Ilha pattern (available for purchase on Ravelry or through DKA)
- Fingering/sport weight yarn (yardage approx: 880 (955, 1035, 1105, 1180)(1250, 1335, 1395, 1480) m; 965 (1045, 1135, 1210, 1290)(1370, 1460, 1525, 1615) yards.
- We recommend Cascade Heritage, Universal Uni Merino, Dream in Color Smooshy, Fiber MacGyver Merino Twist, Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply, and Malabrigo Mechita.
- US 4 circular (16" and 32" for Magic Loop) or DPN, or size needed to obtain gauge
- US 6 circular (24" or 32" for body and Magic Loop), or size needed to obtain gauge
- Stitch markers; darning needle
NOTE: This class is offered as a summer sweater knitted with short sleeves; the original pattern is for long sleeves. Be sure to adjust yarn quantity based on desired length of sleeve.
