Sheep to Something

2nd Annual Sheep to Something Event! Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th.

You’ve heard of Sheep to Shawl events right? They are usually at fiber festivals and they are team competitions that follow the fleece of a sheep from sheep to Shawl. Yep, teams prep, spin and knit/crochet/weave a shawl all in one day! 

Wellllll, you know us. We just have to give it a go!

We have 2 teams of DKA friends and 1 team of DKA Rockstars ready to compete. We decided to call it Sheep to Something, because we just can’t be sure what we’ll make, but it’ll be something, alright.

Our Weekend Schedule looks like this!

Join us Saturday, October 25th 10am - 6pm

Demos and Try It Yourself Stations 

• Try your hand at blending fiber and making rolags on a blending board
• Process washed fiber on a drum carder and hand cards.
• See unwashed wool fleece and learn about washing and processing.
• Learn about spinning and plying yarn on a traditional wheel and an E spinner. Will have wheels available to try yourself!

Join us Sunday for our Sheep to Something Friendly Competition 11 - 4pm

Store opens at 10am. 

Team Introduction, On Your Mark, Get Set, Go! at 11.

Three teams will take freshly washed fleece, card it, spin it, knit it, or crochet it, and make something before your very eyes. What are the rules? How is the winner determined? Ummmmmmm

We have three teams ready to compete. One led by our teacher and friend Amy H, one led by the one and only Susie from Fiber Macgyver, and one team of DKA Rockstars ready to compete.

Come and have some fun with us! Yes, the loft will have space for social knitting while you enjoy the exciting event! You'll have a birdseye view:)

It's needles and hooks down at 4pm with winners crowned at 4:30pm
