4 in 12 KAL Haiku Cardi and Tanrenga

We're excited to announce not one, but TWO patterns for you to choose from for our 3rd quarter 4-in-12 Knit-a-Long of 2024.

Haiku Cardi and Tanrenga, both by Svetlana Volkova.

This session begins on Zoom on Wednesday, July 10.

Option 1: Haiku Cardi
Haiku is worked in a Worsted to Aran weight yarn. It is cast on at the center back, and worked flat in Stockinette with increases along the spine, then split for the shoulders. Shoulders are then worked over the top and down the front, beginning the front panels of the cardigan. Then stitches are picked up along the cast-on/increase edge of the back and worked down in one piece to the bottom hem.

Option 2: Tanrenga
Tanrenga is worked in a Fingering to Sport weight yarn. It is worked in a similar construction style to Haiku, but instead of Stockinette, is worked in a traditional shale wave lace pattern throughout.

If you are trying to decide whether this project is your skill level, you should be very comfortable...
- knitting and purling flat
- increasing M1R and M1L
- yarnover (YO) and knitting two stitches together (k2tog)
- picking up stitches along an edge and knitting them (pick up and knit)

New to 4-in-12? It's a free quarterly sweater knit-a-long that meets every other week on zoom in the morning and the evening. On the opposite Wednesdays, an in-person study hall meets in the mornings at the Makers Lounge.

This is a knit along, not a traditional "class". You won't get specific instruction from us as you are knitting. We all knit this sweater together, but at our own paces, and discover the 'quirks' of the pattern together. We will do our best to answer questions when they come up, but this is not a formal class.

If you live locally, you are welcome to come to the in-person knit-along times the weeks opposite the zoom class.

We look forward to knitting along with you.

During Zoom sessions, extensive demonstrations may be limited, as we do our best to answer as many questions as we can and help as many people as possible! If you are wanting some one-on-one help, we recommend attending the Study Hall In-Person classes on the opposite Wednesdays as the Zooms. If you are unable to attend Study Hall, we ask that you call and make an appointment so we can assure that one of our staff is available to assist you.
You may or may not have experience with some of these techniques, and we anticipate that everyone will be at different learning stages throughout this knit-a-long.
