Different Stripes

Our shop hop pattern for 2014 is Different Stripes for Different Types.
.
Our theme for this year’s hop was the Historic Stillwater Prison.  Stillwater was the location of Minnesota’s very first federal prison.  It housed members of Jessie James Gang and other bad folks:).  Even some women were housed there.
.
Anyway…we knew we wanted to do the obvious, and stripe something.  But weren’t exactly sure what to do.
.
We wanted something very easy to knit and crochet, something that even newbie knitters could make.  We chose a simple triangular shawl with an increase only on one side.  What we hate about triangular shawls is that they aren’t easy to wear.  If they aren’t long enough to tie around your neck securely, you have to use a shawl pin or else the points are always falling off your shoulders.  We hate that!  So, to make it easier to wear, we added a keyhole!
.
One skein of our yarn (Sweet Georgia, Cashluxe Fine color Prison Grey) is the perfect amount to make this perfect scarf, shawl, neckerchief…whatever!  We added the stripes by making roughly 42 yard mini skeins of some of Sweet Georgia’s standard colors.  Pink = Orchic, Orange = Dutch, White = Birch, Yellow = Saffron, Blue = Summer Skin, Green = Lawn.
.
So now…where to put the stripes?  We decided to write a little quiz.  We’ve all taken them.  Work the quiz, add up your score and use our suggested stripe patterns, or just stripe it wherever you wish!
