Darn Yarn Club 2.0

DYC_Santa_5x5
Yeah!  It’s back!

It took us some time to make a decision about Darn Yarn Club.  We’d heard a lot of conversations about DYC around the shop and online.  Some of you loved the surprise, some didn’t.  Some of you loved the pattern, some didn’t care.  So we thought we’d ask you and we’d let the majority rule.

We did a little survey.  If you ever joined Darn Yarn Club you got the emailed survey.

What did we find out?  Well, the results were not surprising…turns out there was no majority.  Well, not really.

51.45% of you wanted a sneak peek.
49.55% of you wanted the surprise.

46.88% of you wanted a new pattern with the yarn
7.81% of you said that you didn’t want a pattern
45.31% of you said you didn’t care either way

You get the picture.  This survey only helped us realize what we had been feeling.  That you can’t please everyone:)

You all did agree on something.  You agreed that you all wanted the option of purchasing each session separately.

Well, we’ve settled on what we think will make for a fun Darn Yarn Club going forward.

We are going to offer a quarterly club.  This club package will include a luxury yarn dyed by an exceptional hand dyer and dyed exclusively for our club.  The package will include a pattern designed specifically for this yarn and our shop. It will also include a project bag and useable notion of some kind.

We’ll deliver the club in January, April, July and October.  You can purchase the club one quarter at a time or you can purchase the entire year now.  You can be surprised, or you can have the option to get a sneak peek.

We hope you like the changes to the club.  We know that these changes will help us make a club that is the best it can be.

DYC Sept – Nov

Thursday, November 14th, 2013

We just sent out our November package for this session’s DYC.   This session is complete and we are gearing up for our December – February Club.
.
Here is the recap of September – November.  We have a few of each of the yarns left.  They will be available for purchase by DYC members immediately and for those that aren’t members on March 1st.
.
September yarn was dyed for us by Zen Yarn Garden.  Beautiful huh?  This blend of silk and merino can’t be beat!
.

September DYC

.
The pattern for this yarn, Eye Like It,  was designed by Carly and is a simple beaded bias scarf.  It drapes like a dream.
.

.
October brought us yarn the color of autumn leaves.  Hazel Knits dyed this brilliant semi-solid fingering weight yarn especially for us.   Oh and the little sock, yep, that was the extra surprise in the package:)
.

October DYC

.
Our very own Nadia designed the pattern for October.  Autumn Leaves are Falling is the perfect sock pattern for this yarn!

.
A worsted weight yarn was in store for November’s package.  This yarn is from Minnesota’s very own dyer Sun Valley Fibers.  Inspired by our favorite coffee drink, the lovely latte!  They nailed it.
.

November DYC

.
The pattern was designed by me.  I know  I am biased…but I sure love them:)  The pattern is a simple slip stitch and makes a warm mitten!  We call these The Grind Mitten.  In honor of our favorite coffee shop, The Daily Grind.

DYC June – August 2013

Thursday, November 14th, 2013

A quick recap of our first Darn Yarn Club!  The extra yarns from this club are now available to purchase online.  Very limited quantities so act fast:)
.
June was a yarn from Dragonfly Fibers.  This hand dyer out of Washington DC brought us this wonderful merino silk blend in a color to represent violets that grow in our Minnesota forests.  She captured it perfectly.
.

June 2013

.
The pattern we designed was Woodland Cowl.  But you can do so much more with this yarn.  Izamight, one of our DYC members, made the Garland Cowl out of it.  Love.
.

.
July’s package didn’t disappoint.  The yarn for July was dyed by Huckleberry Knits.  The yarn inspiration was a summer storm!
.

July DYC Summer Storm

.
The pattern we designed was called Summer Storms and it is a very pretty shawl.  But like June’s yarn, this yarn is just begging to be knit into something soft around your neck.  Again, Izamight tried her hand at Leigh.
.

.
The yarn for August was a worsted weight gigantic skein from Miss Babs Yarn.  They yarn lives up to it’s name…”Yowza- Whatta Skein!”
Dyed to represent wedding roses!  Perfect.

.
The pattern was designed by Kate Cruse and uses this big, beautiful skein to its max.  Winter Roses Shawl is a fun knit!
